This Midnight Plum Grape Slush is a dark purple Halloween drink for children made from ripe plums, 100% purple grape juice and ice. It has a spoonable, icy texture rather than the fizz of the Jack-o'-Lantern Orange Fizz or the dairy richness of the Ghost Milkshake. No alcohol, extracts or bitters go into the blender.

How to make it
- An adult washes the plums, cuts two thin wedges for the rims, removes both pits completely and roughly chops the remaining fruit. Leave the purple skins on for color.
- Add the chopped plums, grape juice and ice to a blender. Blend for 20 to 30 seconds, stopping once to scrape down the sides if needed, until the mixture is evenly slushy. Do not blend so long that the ice melts.
- Divide between two small clear cups and clip one thin plum wedge to each rim. Serve at once with a spoon or a wide reusable straw.

An adult handles the knife and blender; remove plum wedges before serving younger children. No alcohol, extracts or bitters are used.

Plums and grape juices vary in sweetness. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add 1 tablespoon more grape juice. If it tastes too sweet, blend in 2 tablespoons more ice. For a sharper result, choose slightly tart ripe plums rather than adding a syrup.
