Halloween Ghost Milkshake for Kids

This alcohol-free Halloween milkshake blends a banana, milk, vanilla ice cream and vanilla extract, then tops each glass with whipped cream shaped like a ghost with chocolate eyes. The recipe makes two small milkshakes in about 10 minutes.

This Halloween ghost milkshake for kids blends banana, vanilla ice cream and milk into two small, creamy party drinks. A whipped cream swirl makes each glass look like a friendly ghost. The banana vanilla milkshake was made and tasted without the chocolate eyes; the eyes are an optional decoration.

How to make it

  1. If adding eyes, ask an adult to melt the chocolate and let it cool until just warm. Use the tip of a clean teaspoon to put two little dots on the inside of each empty glass, high enough to stay above the milkshake. Chill the glasses briefly so the dots set. Skip this step for the tested, undecorated version.
  2. Blend the banana, cold milk, vanilla ice cream and vanilla extract until smooth, about 20 to 30 seconds. Divide between two small glasses, leaving room at the top.
  3. Spoon or pipe a soft swirl of whipped cream onto each drink. Serve straight away with a spoon.

The banana vanilla milkshake was tasted without the decorative chocolate eyes. Check dairy ingredients for allergies.

How sweet is it? Our tester enjoyed the flavor but found the milkshake a little sweet. These are small Halloween treats rather than everyday drinks. The ice cream you use will affect the final sweetness.

Can kids help? Children can choose a ghost face for their glasses and help add the whipped cream. An adult should handle the blender and any melted chocolate. No cocktail picks, dry ice or loose candy eyes are needed.

For a party: Chill the glasses ahead of time, then blend the milkshake just before serving. Add the whipped cream last so the ghost shape stays visible. Check the ice cream and whipped cream packaging if serving children with food allergies.
