Halloween Lychee Eyeball Martini
This Halloween Lychee Eyeball Martini combines 2 oz vodka, 1 oz canned lychee syrup and 3/4 oz fresh lime juice. Two blueberry-stuffed lychees make the edible eyeball garnish.
This Halloween Lychee Eyeball Martini is a pale, sweet-tart vodka cocktail topped with two edible “eyes.” Canned lychees provide both the fragrant syrup for the drink and the white fruit for the garnish; blueberries fit into their natural cavities to create dark pupils without food coloring.

How to make it
- Chill a coupe or martini glass. Drain two lychees and blot them gently with a paper towel so they do not slide on the pick.
- Press one blueberry into the hollow center of each lychee, leaving the rounded side visible as the “pupil.” Thread the cocktail pick through the firm outer edge of both lychees. Do not force the pick through the blueberries.
- Add the vodka, lychee syrup and fresh lime juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake firmly for 12 to 15 seconds.
- Double-strain into the chilled glass. Rest the eyeball pick securely across the rim and serve immediately.
Recipe notes
Canned lychee syrups vary in sweetness. After tasting, add 1/4 oz more lime juice if the drink is syrupy, or 1 teaspoon more lychee syrup if it is too sharp, then shake briefly with fresh ice.

Something wrong or not matching?
Use a pick that spans the entire rim so the garnish cannot fall into the glass. The point should face away from the person drinking, and guests should remove the garnish before eating it.
What it should taste like
Canned lychee syrup is floral and distinctly sweet, while lime provides the drink's structure. Different brands vary in sugar concentration. After making the measured recipe, taste it before serving: add 1/4 oz more lime juice if it feels syrupy, or 1 teaspoon more lychee syrup if it is too sharp. Shake briefly with fresh ice after either adjustment.
This specific new recipe has not yet been taste-tested. The measurements are a practical starting point for the site owner to test before merging the draft.
Party preparation
Make the eyeball garnishes up to four hours ahead, cover and refrigerate them, then place each pick on its glass at serving time. You can also combine the vodka, lychee syrup and lime juice for several drinks in advance and keep it cold. Measure 3 3/4 oz of the mixture per serving and shake each portion with ice; shaking the full batch at once will not chill or dilute it evenly.
