Halloween Witch's Brew Melon Sour

This Witch's Brew Melon Sour combines 1 1/2 oz melon liqueur, 1 oz vodka, 3/4 oz fresh lime juice and 1 oz soda water. It makes one bright green Halloween cocktail in about 5 minutes.

This Witch's Brew Melon Sour is a bright green Halloween cocktail made with melon liqueur, vodka and fresh lime. Soda water lightens the sweetness and gives the surface a gentle fizz. Its color comes from the liqueur, so the recipe needs no separate food coloring or special effects.

How to make it

  1. Chill a coupe glass while you measure the ingredients.
  2. Add the melon liqueur, vodka and fresh lime juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake firmly for 10 to 12 seconds.
  3. Double-strain into the chilled glass. Add 1 oz soda water and stir once gently.
  4. Clip the lime wheel to the rim and place the mint beside it. Serve immediately while cold and lightly fizzy.

Recipe notes

Melon liqueur is sweet.

Adjust after tasting. Melon liqueur is sweet, while fresh limes vary in acidity. If the drink is too sharp, add 1 teaspoon simple syrup and shake again. If it is too sweet, add another 1/4 oz lime juice or a little more soda water. These adjustments have not yet been taste-tested for this specific recipe.

For a party, combine the melon liqueur, vodka and lime juice shortly before serving and keep the mixture cold. Shake individual portions with ice, then add soda water in each glass so the drink stays lively.
