Halloween Graveyard Irish Cream Hot Chocolate
Graveyard Irish Cream Hot Chocolate combines 1 1/2 oz Irish cream, 6 oz milk and 1 tablespoon cocoa in a warm mug, topped with whipped cream and chocolate wafer crumbs. Makes one adult drink in 10 minutes.
This Halloween Graveyard Irish Cream Hot Chocolate is a warm, chocolatey adult drink with an edible wafer “tombstone” standing in a small mound of whipped cream and cookie crumbs. Irish cream is the only alcohol. Use a 10 to 12 oz mug so there is room for the topping.

How to make it
- Prepare the garnish first: crush the listed crumb amount and keep the tombstone wafers whole. Set one 10 to 12 oz heatproof mug per serving beside the stove.
- Put the cocoa powder, sugar and salt in a small saucepan. Add a little of the measured milk (about 1 tablespoon per mug) and whisk into a smooth paste, breaking up any dry cocoa lumps.
- Gradually pour the remaining milk into the saucepan while whisking until the cocoa paste is evenly dispersed.
- Place the pan over medium-low heat. Stir across the bottom for about 3 to 4 minutes for one mug, until the milk is steaming and hot. Larger batches can take longer; use the steaming cue. Do not let it boil.
- Take the pan completely off the heat. Measure the Baileys Original Irish Cream using the ingredient list above, add it to the hot cocoa, then stir until evenly mixed. Do not return the pan to the heat after adding Baileys.
- With the mugs resting on the counter, slowly divide the finished hot chocolate between them, leaving room for each topping.
- Divide the whipped cream and crumbs between the mugs. For each, lean a whole wafer against the inside rim with its lower edge in the cream like a tombstone. Serve immediately; lift out and eat the wafer before sipping, since it will soften.
Recipe notes
Add Baileys only after taking the pan off the heat. Calories exclude whipped cream and wafer garnishes. Estimated ABV uses Baileys Original at 17% with no ice dilution. The wafer softens quickly; garnish at serving and remove it before sipping.

Irish cream brings its own sweetness, so taste the warmed cocoa before adding it. For a less sweet next mug, leave out the teaspoon of sugar; for a deeper cocoa flavor, add 1 extra teaspoon of cocoa powder while making the paste. Do not simmer the drink after adding the liqueur, which can dull its flavor and affect its texture. The wafer softens in the warm topping, so decorate at the last moment.
For an alcohol-free mug at the same gathering, make the site's hot chocolate with cocoa powder in separate cookware and omit the Irish cream. The cold, pudding-style Baileys Chocolate Pudding Shots use the same liqueur in a very different dessert. The calorie estimate excludes the whipped cream and wafer garnishes. Strength is calculated using Baileys Original at 17% ABV, with no ice dilution; another Irish cream can change both estimates.
