Halloween Black Widow Brandy Alexander
This Black Widow Brandy Alexander turns the classic creamy after-dinner cocktail into a Halloween drink with a chocolate-syrup web. Brandy brings warmth, dark crème de cacao supplies the chocolate flavor, and heavy cream makes a smooth surface that holds the pattern.

How to make it
- Put one 6–8 oz coupe per serving in the freezer for 5 minutes. Fit a fine-tip squeeze bottle with the chocolate syrup; if you do not have one, spoon the syrup into a small parchment-paper cone and snip a very small opening in its tip.
- Measure the brandy and pour it into a cocktail shaker.
- Measure the dark crème de cacao and add it to the shaker.
- Measure the heavy cream and pour it into the shaker.
- Add the measured ice cubes and close the shaker firmly.
- Shake hard for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker feels very cold and the mixture sounds aerated rather than sloshy.
- Remove the coupe or coupes from the freezer. Open the shaker and fine-strain the drink into the chilled glass, dividing it evenly if making more than one serving and leaving the ice behind.
- Starting near the center of each drink's foam, pipe three thin concentric rings with that serving's share of the measured chocolate syrup. Keep the rings narrow so they float instead of sinking.
- Place a clean toothpick at the center of one drink and drag it straight through all three rings to the rim. Wipe the toothpick clean, then repeat at 6–8 evenly spaced points; make the same pattern on each remaining drink.
- Set the toothpick and syrup tool aside and serve every cocktail immediately, before the foam settles.

How to make a clean chocolate web
The web works because vigorous shaking creates a thin layer of bubbles on the cream. Fine-straining removes ice chips that would break the pattern. Use pourable chocolate syrup rather than thick fudge sauce, and pipe thin lines: heavy blobs can sink. If the first ring disappears, stop and serve the drink with a simple chocolate spiral instead of adding more syrup.
Dark and white crème de cacao have similar chocolate flavor, but the dark style gives this drink its warm cocoa color. The strength estimate assumes 40% ABV brandy and 24% ABV dark crème de cacao. Bottle strengths vary, so check both labels before mixing.

The estimate counts the brandy, dark crème de cacao, heavy cream and the full measured teaspoon of chocolate syrup. Ice adds no calories. It assumes 40% ABV brandy and 24% ABV crème de cacao; any syrup left in the piping tool makes the actual calories slightly lower.
