Snowy Pear & Vanilla Fizz for Kids

This Snowy Pear & Vanilla Fizz uses pear juice, sparkling water, lemon and a touch of maple syrup. Real vanilla bean and cinnamon make it festive without alcohol-based extracts, while an optional sugar rim gives the glass a snowy look.

How to make it

How we test recipes

  1. Wash the pear and cut one thin slice for garnish.
  2. Spread the white sugar on a small plate.
  3. Moisten the outer glass rim with a little of the measured lemon juice and dip it into the sugar.
  4. Pour pear juice, remaining lemon juice and maple syrup into the glass.
  5. Scrape a tiny pinch of seeds from a vanilla bean into the glass, add cinnamon and stir until combined.
  6. Add several ice cubes.
  7. Slowly pour in the chilled sparkling water and stir gently once or twice.
  8. Garnish with the pear slice and serve immediately. For young children omit the garnish or prepare it in age-appropriate pieces.

Make it your own

For more pear flavor, use 4 oz pear juice and 2 oz sparkling water. For less fizz, replace some sparkling water with chilled still water. For a party, mix the noncarbonated ingredients ahead and add sparkling water only when serving.
