Black Friday Maple Espresso Martini

Jump to Recipe

Black Friday is a loose theme for a cocktail, so this maple espresso martini is designed for an evening get-together after the shopping, rather than a drink to take along. It is a darker, autumn-flavored twist on the classic espresso martini.

Espresso martini topped with three coffee beans in a coupe glass

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 oz maple syrup
  • Ice and 3 coffee beans or a small dusting of cocoa for garnish

How to make it

  1. Brew the espresso and let it cool for a few minutes. Chill a coupe or martini glass.
  2. Add vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso and maple syrup to a shaker packed with ice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  3. Double-strain into the chilled glass. Garnish with coffee beans or a light cocoa dusting.

Coffee liqueurs differ in sweetness; taste a small sample before adding more maple syrup. For a lower-caffeine evening drink, use decaf espresso. Shake each serving just before pouring for the freshest foam. Keep the prepared espresso refrigerated if making several drinks, and avoid leaving dairy-based additions out at room temperature.
